Michelle Phan for Dr Pepper

First things first, happy New Year everybody!

And now, quickly moving down to business: in my last post/review of 2013, I opened talking about the YouTube revolution that started in 2013 and will boom in 2014, and closed with a reflection on how 2014 will sure be a year of changes.

It did not take long till we could see some signs of it. Yes, it has got to do with YouTube, yes it has got to do with a big brand and yes, it has got to do with a bespoke collaboration.

It couldn't be other than the über famous (over 5 million subscribers world wide) Michelle Phan. And she is not playing a part or a role, she is being herself and (kind of) telling her story in the new Diet Dr. Pepper ad. Please see for yourselves:

Like I said, this is only the beginning. We have witnessed sparse collaborations from YouTubers with brands, but we will sure be seeing many more during this year. It is just a matter of time -and budget. By the end of 2014, these "little kids in their bedrooms" could be asking for close-to-celebrity pays to show their very much desired e-presence outside of the e-world.

The YouTube revolution is here. Follow your gut!
