2013: my review

Yes, 2013 is over (or will be in just a few hours). And just like everywhere else around the globe and the "digiglobe", it is time for a retrospective. However, I find it much more interesting to look back in order to make a good estimate of what we can expect coming forward.

It is official: Pantone Colour for 2014 has been unveiled. The lucky shade for next year is Radiant Orchid (aka 18-3224), an absolutely stunning lilac-y cold pink.

on fashion brands (and why they could be left behind)

On my previous post, I mentioned how YouTube paid subscription models will become the new television, and also how many industries will be benefiting from it.

I also raised the question of why is the Fashion Industry not going along with it. Most big fashion brands' YouTube channels are an absolute failure, leave alone them launching a paid one. What fashion brands do not seem to understand is that having a YouTube channel isn't simply putting any videos up as long as related to their brand. It needs a strategy behind it, needs to be addressed at the proper audience and needs to blend with those people in the field that do have a significant presence within the platform.

YouTube killed the TV star - YouTube paid subscription models

Town criers. The people responsible for announcing official communications and news of interest to the masses. Back in the Middle Ages, these people were the ultimate source of information, and whoever has the information, holds the power. Who would have told them around 1450 that a device called the printing press, would revolutionise the world and leave them practically out of work.

you saw it here first: Snapchat + fashion designers

Going through some old Fashion Week reviews, I realised I never commented on a Mashable article that surprised me. It is no news that the Fashion Industry has been partnering with social media for a while now, benefiting from its immediacy and broad reach.

Well during New York Fashion Week, back in September, designer Rebecca Minkoff revealed exclusive pieces of her collection via an unusual app; Snapchat.

Stereomood, or how Spotify became emotional

Of all areas of Trend Forecasting, I find music might be one of the hardest to work on. There are so many different groups, genres, artists, styles... Or maybe, and precisely because of this, it should be easier to forecast the next "sound", as the more information, the better you can extract conclusions.

what gives the "it" to a girl

Google Images is a source of surprises, and while doing some research, I stumbled upon a photo that captivated me. It was a picture of British model and socialite Alexa Chung. I had to double check, and was shocked with how much she reminded me of cinema legend Leslie Caron, particularly on the 1953 film, "Lili".

Nordstrom + Chriselle Lim

Funny how I was researching stylist and vlogger Chriselle Lim on my recent post about Snapchat in fashion and a few days later I come across this piece of news on my Facebook feed:

fashion could use a little ghost

Doing a bit of research on interesting apps in growth, I came across this one, Snapchat. For those who are not familiar with this app, Snapchat is an app that allows you to share photos and videos with your contacts. How is this innovative? I thought. Well, the singularity of this app is, the recipient will only be able to see your "snap" for up to 10 seconds. If you don't screen shot the content, it will disappear.

best corsets are made of flesh

In many places around the globe, looking out the window such a day as today, the weather can be described as anything but inviting. Hence the idea of exposing even the tiniest bit of our poor, darling skin seems like torture.
Nevertheless, there is hope around the corner; grey days will soon be long gone and there is a wonderful trend awaiting their arrival: belly show-off.

Catwoman would be proud

I have a friend that claims nail art is the most pointless thing. Men do not even notice, he says, and only a handfull of women would advert nail decorations, when truly outstanding.
My answer? To hell with that!
